Back at the start of the 70's I was working as the DJ in an Amsterdam disco, The Bird's Club, when Focus, a new exciting Dutch group made their very
first appearance there. Featuring Thijs van Leer on flute and Hammond organ and Jan Akkerman on lead guitar they were a sensation!
I was lucky, not only was I honoured to be asked to sing with the band, (once), but I was asked to write lyrics for music written by Thijs. The result was only one on record which I thought was great. It was Happy Nightmare.
